Cody McElrea TruNorth Naturals
Founder & Visionary

Cody McElrea is the founder of TruNorth Naturals, a company rooted in wild-harvested ingredients, regenerative practices, and sustainable forest management. With a background in ecological systems, renewable energy, and natural medicine, Cody leads TruNorth with a practical and hands-on vision—building ethical, traceable supply chains that prioritize environmental integrity and long-term resilience.

Operating from a 190-acre off-grid homestead in Goulais River, Ontario, Cody oversees all of TruNorth’s operations—from field harvesting and logistics to compliance, production, and team development. The property also houses TruNorth’s solar-powered processing facility, which runs entirely on renewable energy and reflects the company’s low-impact ethos.

In addition to overseeing daily operations, Cody drives TruNorth’s strategic growth. He has developed a data-driven sustainable harvesting model using geospatial tools, launched global private-label and bulk ingredient supply programs, and established partnerships with forest managers and regulatory bodies to advance responsible harvesting practices. He is also collaborating with leading researchers in an innovation initiative focused on developing revolutionary fungi-based products—fully vertically integrated in Canada—through advanced R&D and manufacturing techniques that enhance bioavailability and unlock the therapeutic potential of key compounds.

Under his leadership, TruNorth has become a globally respected supplier of wild fungi—including chaga, reishi, and turkey tail—valued for its transparency, product quality, and ecological integrity. Cody’s long-term mission is to shift forest economies toward models of value creation rooted in conservation and biodiversity.

Outside of work, Cody is deeply connected to the land. He spends his time growing food and medicinal plants, building infrastructure on the homestead, practicing Kundalini yoga, and learning from the ecosystems around him. He lives in Goulais River with his fiancée, Alyssa, and their husky, Nakia. Together, they are preparing to welcome their first child in September 2025.
